Meet Kacper Caputa, a PhD student in chemical engineering at COAT-IT — the Polish SME responsible in CHARGE for scaling up electroplated protective coatings for SOEC interconnects.
Kacper specialises in electrochemical surface engineering. His research experience centres on the electrodeposition of metallic and composite coatings and the assessment of their surface and corrosion-resistance properties, with particular focus on the relationships between deposition parameters, microstructure, chemical composition and the functional performance of the obtained coatings.
In CHARGE, Kacper is involved in the design and development of precursor coatings engineered to form spinel structures during post-deposition heat treatment. This work sits at the heart of Work Package 3, where coated 430-grade steel interconnects are developed as a low-cost, CRM-free alternative to specialty alloys — protected against oxidation and chromium evaporation by exactly the layers Kacper deposits.
Glad to have you in the team, Kacper!
CHARGE (CETP-2024-00202) is funded through the CETPartnership Joint Call 2024, with support from EUDP (Denmark), NCBR (Poland) and PtJ on behalf of BMWE (Germany).
